World NGO Day on February 27th celebrates the important work of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide.

NGOs fill gaps where government resources are lacking, providing essential services and advocacy for underserved populations. NGOs empower individuals and communities and advocate for systemic change. In times of crisis, they are among the first responders, offering emergency aid. NGOs play a crucial role in advancing healthcare and social justice, creating a healthier, more inclusive world.

AFEW International is a Dutch non-governmental humanitarian public health organization dedicated to serving Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) since 2001. Our focus has always been on supporting civil society actors and networks representing communities that are excluded, criminalised, more stigmatised, and face multiple barriers preventing them from having equal access to basic services and being able to fully participate and advocate in civic life.

Today and always, we extend our gratitude to all NGOs for their joint effort in bringing safety, relief, and sustainable solutions to vulnerable populations in EECA. Together we are stronger!
