On the 29th of June, the Country Key Populations Platform (CKPP) (https://ckpp.org.ua/) in Ukraine, released a video where told about its activities and encouraged community representatives to join it.

The Country Key Populations Platform is an independent information platform aimed at developing common positions and creating tools that influence the decision-making process at the local, national and international levels. In addition, the CKPP is made to strengthen capacity, share information and experience between representatives of key populations.

Key values of the platform are:

  1. Tolerance for everyone.
  2. Freedom to be yourself.
  3. Equality.
  4. Transparency and openness.
  5. Mutual support.

The greatest potential of the CKPP is people who invest their energy, talent and faith in the effectiveness of joint activities for achieving common goals. That is why the CKPP invites representatives of key populations such as ex-prisoners, LGBT people, people who use drugs, sex workers to join the Platform.

Members of the CKPP will be able to help their communities be more actively represented in various decision-making mechanisms, join the development of national standards for preventive measures and ensure their approval, have the opportunity to share the experience with activists and specialists, and also gain important knowledge and skills in training, etc.

As of today , the work of the Platform has been financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in the framework of the project “Bridging the Gaps: Health and rights for key populations”, UNAIDS, Eurasian Harm Reduction Association (EHRA), Public Health Alliance, International Renaissance Foundation, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine.

The work of the CKPP is carried out through the organizations included in the Platform’s advisory group. One of these organizations is the ICF “AIDS Foundation East-West” (AIDS Foundation East-West – AFEW-Ukraine), which is at the begging of the creation of the NPCC in the framework of the tripartite cooperation between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UNAIDS and civil society.

The video was created by the Drug Users News studio, as part of the project “Development of the Country Platform of Key Communities”, which is being implemented by AFEW-Ukraine with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
