The Simple Things

We are happy to share with you #TheSimpleThings, a campaign developed by AFEW International based on real stories of parents of queer children in Georgia.

The campaign explores the challenges families face when navigating fear, stigma, social expectations and a lack of reliable information about sexual orientation and gender identity. These pressures can create distance between parents and their children, leaving young people feeling rejected, isolated or afraid to be themselves.

But the stories also show that change is possible. Through listening, learning and understanding, parents can overcome their fears, build stronger relationships with their children and offer them the love and acceptance they need.

Based on interviews with mothers, we created a series of animated films with documentary elements, using their real voices and words while protecting their anonymity.

At the heart of #TheSimpleThings is a simple message to parents: learn, listen, stand by your child and love your children just the way they are.

Help us spread the message!

We would be grateful if you could support the campaign by sharing it through your websites, social media channels, newsletters or partner networks.

All campaign materials are available to view and download from the campaign website in English and Georgian.

By sharing these stories, you can help us reach more families, encourage conversations about acceptance and remind queer young people that they are not alone.

Thank you for helping us spread this important message!
