Support. Don’t Punish is a global, grassroots-driven initiative that champions harm reduction and drug policies rooted in public health, dignity, and human rights. The campaign focuses on empowering the communities most affected by the so-called “war on drugs” and their allies, strengthening their ability to mobilize, engage in dialogue with policymakers, and raise awareness among the media and the public.
At the heart of the campaign is the Global Day of Action, held each year on or around 26 June, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Traditionally, this date has been marked by governments to promote harsh, coercive drug control measures. Support. Don’t Punish seeks to reclaim this day — shifting the global narrative towards compassion, evidence-based policies, and the rights of people who use drugs.
Every year, this vibrant and multifaceted day sees activists and organisations in dozens of cities worldwide coming together for protests, public actions, workshops, performances, and advocacy efforts, making their voices heard in the name of reform. The 2025 edition of the Support. Don’t Punish Global Day of Action promises to be bigger, braver, and even more connected. Plans are already taking shape for creative, community-led actions, both in-person and online, across multiple regions. New partnerships, digital campaigns, hybrid dialogues, and cultural events will help amplify the voices of people who use drugs and frontline harm reduction advocates around the world.
Whether you’re a grassroots activist, an NGO, a healthcare worker, an artist, or someone directly impacted by drug policy — this is your movement. Deadline for submissions – 27 April!
