The AFEW Partnership is proud to join the international campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. From November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), we call on everyone to take action against violence and inspire women to stand up for their rights.
What is the 16 Days of Activism?
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign that started in 1991. People all over the world use these 16 days to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. They organize events, campaigns, and actions to bring change and support survivors.
This year, the AFEW Partnership focuses on women in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. We will share inspiring messages, stories, information, and resources to help women become stronger and prevent any forms of gender violence.
What will we do?
During these 16 days, we will:
- Share inspiring messages in Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian, Ukrainian and Uzbek languages to encourage women to fight for their rights.
- Publish articles from our partners in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. These articles will include:
- Useful tips on finding help and legal support.
- Stories of women who make a difference in their communities.
- Information on how to recognize signs of violence and protect yourself.
- Ideas for breaking harmful stereotypes and traditions.
With these messages and stories, we want to inspire and support women. But this campaign is not only for women—men, young people, and communities can also learn how to help stop violence.

PS. AFEW partnership is a partnership of independent local organisations working for underserved populations in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. At the moment, the AFEW consists of four members operating in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, and Ukraine; with AFEW International in the Netherlands coordinating projects in a number of EECA region countries in close partnership with local CSOs (Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan).
