The exhibition features a unique combination of photos made by these community members themselves and complementary photos that were made by award winning photographer.

The testing week was held in the framework of UNODC-funded project and was focused mainly on people who use drugs and prisoners. The goal of the project was to increase the number of people that are aware of their HIV status, decrease cases of late diagnosis and contribute to timely prescription of treatment.
Tens of young people performed a dance show to draw the public’s attention to HIV in Kyrgyzstan and to call for solidarity with people living with HIV. Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and other key populations like people who use drugs, sex workers and men who have sex with men, is still high among the general population.
The prize of $65,000 will allow Dr. Vezhnina to create a local NGO to combat a deadly emergence of drug-resistant TB and HIV in Kemerovo, Siberia. AFEW sincerely congratulates Dr. Vezhnina with this big achievement and wishes her every success in her work combating tuberculosis in Russia.
