AFEW (International) is organising a community-based research programme. The programme consists of several trainings and a small grants fund for community- based research projects.
AFEW became the collaborative partner of the Joint Action on HIV and Co-infection Prevention and Harm Reduction (HA-REACT) that addresses existing gaps in the prevention of HIV and other co-infections, especially tuberculosis and viral hepatitis, among people who inject drugs.
44 years old Makhmad asked for support of the social workers of “Bridging the Gaps” program implemented in Qurghoonteppa city in Tajikistan after he experienced 18 years of injecting drugs and had several ineffective attempts of stopping using them.
A qualitative study “Family members of the people who inject drugs should promote the positive image of harm reduction services” was made by the graduate student of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Sandra Hagoort, and AFEW in Ukraine.
City Health 2016 is the fifth edition of the conference. The conference is returning to the venue where City Health International was launched in 2012, the historic Guildhall, at the heart of the City of London.
AFEW is joining the celebration of the First European Hepatitis Awareness Week on 25 – 29 July, the week of World Hepatitis Day, falling on 28 July this year.
Towards the end of 2016, AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) will release a call for proposals for community-based organizations to conduct research to benefit key populations living in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA).
AFEW booth is situated in the European Networking Zone that is hosted by The European AIDS Treatment Group, AIDS Action Europe and ECUO. ENZ is part of the Global Village, a space where activists and researchers from the community in Europe will present their work and projects.
We would like to share the results of our work in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and also invite them to come to the next conference in Amsterdam. AFEW is asked to engage EECA in the AIDS 2018 conference, and for us it is very important that many people from the region will be present to show their key activities there.
