Videos from AIDS 2018 and IAS 2017 Now Available in Russian. The IAS Educational Fund provides educational and inspiring sessions from IAS conferences (International AIDS Conferences and IAS Conferences on HIV Science) to clinicians and other healthcare providers and advocates. To make content accessible to more people, the IAS Educational Fund provides several sessions subtitled and transcribed in FrenchSpanishPortuguese and Russian.

AFEW Network Issues Guide for AIDS 2018 Visitors

With 22nd International AIDS Conference approaching in about two weeks, AFEW Network issued a guide for AIDS 2018 visitors with the useful information. The guide provides general information about Amsterdam – the home city for AIDS 2018. It also has information on public transport, drug policy, medical services, police, culture in the Netherlands, and practical questions.

Module on Writing a Conference Abstract Announced

AFEW International and Health[e]Foundation present online course on community based participatory research – CBPR[e]education and free preview to the module Writing a conference abstract.

In the seven modules of the CBPR[e]Education course (available in English and Russian) you will gain insight into, and understanding about the key principles of community based participatory research.

Part of this course is available for free: module on writing a conference abstract. This module presents present information on the general requirements and considerations regarding abstract writing and the criteria used in the selection process.

Introduction

AFEW International: inviting Eastern Europe and Central Asia to AIDS 2018

AFEW International with the support of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implementing a range of activities to empower CBOs, NGOs, activists, policy makers, stakeholders, researchers and clinicians from Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA*) region to take part in the XXII International AIDS Conference 2018 in Amsterdam.

AFEW International activities:

From April 2017 – online learning courses that consist of seven modules on community based participatory research including a module on abstract writing (price: 50.00 euro, excluding Certificate)

From July 2017 – online module on abstract writing in Russian and English (free of charge for everyone). See details on the last page of this leaflet

Ongoing – educational online materials (tutorials) on how to navigate towards AIDS 2018

Ongoing – guidance and mentorship on abstract writing

Only for those whose abstracts and presentations got accepted – support in getting scholarships to attend conference

Summer 2018 – skills workshop How to present your work or research findings (for up to 25 participants accepted for presentations at AIDS 2018)

…and special events before and during AIDS 2018 for the EECA region delegates.

**Please note that official language of the AIDS Conference 2018 is English. All applications should be in English too. AFEW International is working on options for language support during the conference for EECA delegates who do not possess solid English skills. 

Communities will be Educated how to Analyse Data and how to Act

Two new modules for the program community-based participant research CBPR [e] Education that is supporting and strengthening the research capacity of organizations acting on behalf of and representing the interests of communities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) are released online today.

The program consists of the number of activities, including training for community-based participatory research, small grants program, workshop on dissemination and abstract writing and workshop on presenting research findings on AIDS2018 Conference.

AFEW International gives program participants the opportunity to take part in online e-learning modules for further development of their research skills. The modules are also available for others who are interested in community-based participatory research. Course that costs 75 euros, includes 7 modules on the preparation and conduct of community-based participatory research.

The first module announced today is Data Analysis. Analyzing data is necessary to make sense of the outcomes of the study and to answer the research questions. Analyzing data will help working towards a way of representing the data to a larger public.

The second module is called Bringing about social change: translating knowledge into action. After the data is collected and analyzed, the participant is ready to write the reports and to disseminate the results to others. It is the time now to determine how the participant can bring social change that will benefit the community. The evaluation of the research will be also discussed in this module.

Later on, everyone will be able to participate in the webinar on data analysis, which will be held in late spring or summer of 2017.

The purpose of the program is to increase region’s participation in AIDS2018 conference in Amsterdam. The financial support is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The program consists of the number of activities, including training for community-based participatory research, small grants program, workshop on dissemination and abstract writing and workshop on presenting research findings on AIDS2018 Conference.
