The AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) is a Dutch non-governmental
humanitarian public health organisation which was founded in the Netherlands, and whose
mission is to make a major contribution to the reduction of the impact of HIV/AIDS in
Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA). AFEW develops, implements and promotes tools for effective HIV prevention,
treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS in the EECA region.
AFEW also strives to strengthen East-West engagement via the exchange of knowledge and
people through its programme activities. AFEW operates from its headquarters in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and co-ordinates its programme activities in the various EECA countries from its operational offices in Moscow, Kyiv and Almaty.
