AFEW's operational approach
With a team of experienced international staff, a steadily growing number of
competent and committed NIS staff, and an increasingly expanding network of
international experts, AFEW is headquartered in Moscow (RF) with operational
offices in Kyiv (Ukraine) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). AFEW has developed an operational
system, which is ready to replicate successful approaches in new countries in
the region, and at the same time develop additional programmes on new topics.
AFEW seeks to develop a comprehensive programme portfolio in the fields of prevention,
treatment, care and support. AFEW always works closely with two types of national
partners: (1) national non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in order to transfer
knowledge and skills and to build civil society's capacity, enabling AFEW to
hand over successful operations and move to new areas; and (2) governmental
structures in order to demonstrate the results of the programmes and to advocate
for the adoption of proven interventions on a countrywide level.
